Most of us treat the mat like laundry. Fold it. Hide it. Pull it out again at Maghrib. The room never looks like anyone prays there, and the mat never looks like something you would keep out.
Hang a Sajada padded mat and the wall changes. Islamic architecture. Rich colors. The kind of thing you would actually frame, except you do not need a frame. The mat is the art.
It is still a prayer mat. You just stopped hiding it between salahs.
